This marks our seventh year as a discussion series and with it, a new name. This year, we’ll present movies with sports as the major theme. Each of the eight movies explore a common theme of athletes as prototypical American Heroes; and the pleasures and costs to each individual searching for himself in a morality play not of his own design. Misunderstood and alternatively adored and reviled what does it mean to be the best of your sport? Who do you trust? Is it enough for a man to play a child’s game well? What price does the athlete pay for his own success? While we may not have the answers to these and other questions, we invite you to share a small journey with us and meet some great guys and a few rats.
