Adult Programs
Persons with disabilities can arrange for special assistance by calling (847) 923-3347 two weeks prior to the program. Register for all adult excursions and other programs with fees in person or pay by credit card via telephone. Fees are non-refundable and are due at the time of registration. Polish Language Book Discussion

Everyone remembers a recipe from a beloved family member, especially those associated with the holiday season. Cookbook Collector and librarian Amy Alessio will share photos and stories from cookbooks from 1940-1980 that evoke delicious memories from many cultures. Senior Volunteer Program In School District 54

Genealogy Group
Tuesday, Dec. 8 7:30 p.m. Adult Classroom
Participants will form break-out groups in order to share information on common genealogical topics. Groups will include Polish, Czech, German, Irish, British, Italian, Scandinavian and Colonial American. There will also be a Beginners Group as well as an all-purpose Troubleshooting Group. An Internet accessible computer will also be available in the room. Doors will open at 7 p.m. so participants can review materials. Reducing Holiday Stress

Guest speaker Craig Pfannkuche, president of Memory Trail Research Inc., will present “Interpreting Headstones.” Pfannkuche is also the Genealogical Archivist for the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad Historical Society and on the Board of Directors of McHenry County and Chicago’s genealogical societies. Doors will open at 7 p.m. so participants can review materials. The Schaumburg Township District Library is joining forces with LifeSource to help replenish dangerously low blood supplies. Please consider donating, as LifeSource is in desperate need of blood for lifesaving transfusions. To donate you must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds, be in good physical health and have not given blood in the past eight weeks. Donors may enter a drawing for a special prize. Michelle Paluch-Mishur of Art Excursions will highlight Caravaggio’s Supper at Emmaus, currently on loan from The National Gallery in London and displayed at the Art Institute. Random Ringers

For the past 18 years, the Random Ringers have performed handbell music in the north and northwest suburbs. They ring a variety of secular, popular and religious pieces on Schulmerich handbells and Malmark choir chimes. This performance will mark their tenth appearance at the library.
Folk Song Treasures

Come and hear the timeless music of Poland, Czech Republic and Slovakia presented by accordionist/ vocalist Mazurka Wojciechowska. This dynamic artist is one of Chicago’s leading experts in Slavic folk music. Wearing colorful, authentic folk dress, she sings all songs in the original languages, providing translation and background information in English.
