Youth Programs
Persons with disabilities can arrange for special assistance by calling (847) 923-3439 two weeks prior to the program. Register at the location you will attend for Youth Services programs that require registration: Central Library Youth Services Information Desk (847) 923-3439; Hoffman Estates Branch (847) 885-3511; or Hanover Park Branch (630) 372-7800. You must register in person for all programs requiring a fee. Fees must be paid at the time of registration. All Youth Services programs requiring registration are limited to Schaumburg Township District Library cardholders. Refunds, less a $3 service fee, are available with a 24-hour notice. Children under age 8 must be accompanied by a parent or other responsible adult caregiver (age 18 or older) at all times while in the library. No strollers are permitted in library-sponsored programs. We reserve the right to limit seating at all programs for safety reasons.

A * means limited tickets will be available in Youth Services 20 minutes prior to showtime. Patrons may only attend one show. No tickets are required for programs at the branches, but we reserve the right to limit seating for safety reasons.
Winter Reading Program
Read to Succeed
Read to Succeed is co-sponsored by the Chicago Wolves. Children through age 14 may sign up at the Youth Services Programs/Games Desk or the Hoffman Estates or Hanover Park branches. Readers must read eight books, and non-readers must have 20 books read to them by Feb. 28. Each child who completes the program will receive a prize from the library and be entered in drawings for bonus prizes donated by the Wolves. We reserve the right to substitute incentives. Special Reading Program: Real Men Read @ STDL (ages 5-14)
STDL cardholders may sign up at the Youth Services Programs/Games Desk for this special school year program celebrating male readers. Each child is encouraged to complete several activities with a father, grandfather, uncle or adult brother including reading together, attending programs and more. Earn a prize for completing five activities on your activity card. This program is sponsored by a grant from Target Corporation.

This program provides an opportunity for parents to socialize with other parents while children play with the toys provided. For the consideration and safety of others, no older siblings allowed. Chef Rose Deneen presents a demonstration of how to decorate an edible gingerbread house. Each child will decorate a graham cracker house with icing, sprinkles and other treats. An adult must accompany each child ages 6-7. Registration required. Fee: $5 per child.
